Femme Couture Smokin Eyes -Creme Eye Colour

Femme Couture Smokin Eyes -Creme Eye Colour

My eye lids have been a little dry lately. The humid weather is doing a number on them. I'll admit so is my age. I actually stopped by Sally's Beauty for of all things- a Teaser-Comb. Yes, a Teaser-Comb! I usually only get my hair teased @ the beauty salon. Yet, being a DIY in most of my daily life, I thought, why not? The worst that could happen is I give myself a rat's nest look. I may start a trend, right?

My hair is so thin -I thought I'd give it a little help. It's was only $3.99 .I figured if it didn't work well I could use it as a weapon if ever in imminent danger.
I must now confuse while waiting in line, I fell prey to the stocking stuffer type items near the register. Please tell me I am not the only one who weakens while waiting in line?

Well, I fell for   "Femme Couture Smokin Eyes"
Only $6.49

Tonight, Julia (13) and I are going to buy batteries for the camera. Why is it the batteries run out just when you want to show off teased hair & creamy dreamy eyes?

Stay tuned ......

    Autumn Inspirations

This feels more like me. Inspired by Blogging Buddie Vintage Mending
I can't believe it is Autumn. How am I reminded? By my Blogging Buddies. They have it more together than I do. I know, big surprise, right?  Which instead of having blogging envy -it's  more encouraging and motivating. While I am fighting a cold and feeling more like a congested coughing mess; I am inspired with simplicity from Elaine @ Sunny Simple Life . Can you imagine the pumpkin she'll place in the middle to complete this look?

    Or

    Let's just spell it out!

Have you decorated? Am I the only one that feels already  behind ? What new ideas are you doing this year? or do you have a standard tradition year after year?

    Why Do I Blog? Goals?

The following question came up today from Trisha  of Momdot.com :

    WHY DO YOU BLOG? GOALS?

You know, I really had to think hard and long. I'm not sure. I always loved show and tell in grade school. I'm a great story teller. Ask my daughter Julia. She'll name any subject and I have to tell her a bed time story off one name, color, item or subject. I've  also always admired other peoples stories. Not sure how it all came about. Me, in this Blogger World. I've always loved taking pictures and with storytelling ,blogging just came about. Now it feels more like a Dear Diary of sorts. A little of my life unexpected. I now sell J.R. Watkins products yet trying to sell products comes secondary to actually blogging. I have to remind myself that I can promote a little on here as well. I find myself sharing links that I love. I adore Vintage prints so I'm always sending my blogging buddies to  other sites  for  Free Vintage Printables

    I share my daughter

Overall I blog to bring a little more life into the world. Plus,it's therapeutic when things get a little crazy with a teenage girl. Remember what it was like being 13? I'm reliving it. One blog at a time, one teenage girl at a time. I guess a goal of mine would be to able to one day- afford to purchase a great camera &  blog full time until my next teenage adventure.

Windmill™ Health Products Green Coffee Bean Extract - WINDMILL - GNC

Windmill™ Health Products Green Coffee Bean Extract - WINDMILL - GNC

One of the luxuries of going to yard sales is being then able to afford other items at full price. After a recent episode of one of my favorites-Dr.Oz I decided to give one of his recommendations a try.

    Green Coffee Bean Extract

I liked the fact it offers the following:
    • Helps support Metabolism
    • Supports Healthy Blood Sugar Levels
    • Helps control Appetite
    • Jitter-Free
Jitter-Free? I definitely don't want to be dancing around doing the jitter bug like in the 1920's. Jitter Bug

I will add this to my normal work out routine and see how it goes.
I'll keep you posted ....who knows I may have  actual results ....or I may not. Either way I have to give it a try! Any tips on results you have experienced besides starvation?

    Summer 2012

Do you remember summers as a child? It's as if my daughter Julia awakens my childhood memories. I love this picture. Here she is in a pool with her friends. I swear she was a mermaid before. She loves the water. Someone pointed out the little naked baby butt in the background. Reminds me of the Coppertone baby .....

Working from Home By Shani Silver

Chicago Editor's Guide To Working From Home
UPDATE: In the height of the summertime, it's easy for work-from-home-ers to fall prey to the season's many distractions (thanks, Fourth of July!). If you've found yourself feeling uninspired, try these super-easy tips from our very own Chicago ed. This story was originally published on November 2, 2011.
There are certain perks to working from home. Your meetings don't happen in conference rooms, you totally avoid Starbucks (when you want to), and you officially have the shortest commute ever. Not bad. But, if you're not careful, work-from-home positions can also come with legit downsides. If you're the sort of person who easily falls into the Pit of Distraction, there's hope. Click through to read about how I manage to get the job done from my apartment, and learn some of my tips and tricks for staying productive. Want to know if they work? The story you're reading right now was written from home sweet home

    1. Set aside one whole room (if the real estate gods have smiled on you) or at least a portion of your home that is all business, and only business. If you start thinking of your bed as a desk, you'll start thinking of your desk as a bed. Duncan Corner Computer Desk, $299.99, available at World Market. White Douglas Desk with Hutch, $259.99, available at World Market. Parsons Mirror Desk, $599, available at West Elm.

    2. Commence operation distraction removal. If you spend hours in front of Bravo, HBO, and all their friends, consider canceling those stations. You'll save some cash and you won't be tempted by the Real Housewives of Procrastination. Also be aware of how productive you are while listening to music. Playing music constantly helps some people, and distracts others, so find out which one you are.

    3. Exercise! Though it may not seem like it, working from home can drastically reduce the amount of calories you burn in a day. Fight stir craziness and the work-from-home 15 by devoting an hour of your day to getting physical. A gym membership is great, but if you can't swing it, invest in some light weights, an exercise ball, a yoga mat, or all three. Anything to get you moving

Go to http://www.refinery29.com/how-to-work-from-home  for the rest. There you will find 7 more great ideas! They have a fun and informative site to visit!

Salvatore Ferragamo Green Crocodile Kitten Heels

I love this! The heel and pointy shoe...aweeee......perfect.......
Salvatore Ferragamo and the label’s cool 1970s-style logo are vintage-store staples: few insoles are as recognizable as the one that lines the brand’s shoes, and even fewer shoes feel as stylish and nostalgic, still. Knowing this, the Italian house recently consulted with its archives in Palazzo Spini Feroni in order to reintroduce a select group of crocodile kitten heels — sharp-toed burgundy pumps, slate sling-backs, emerald and chestnut T-strap Mary Janes (that also come in a maroon ostrich skin) and Regency-era lace-ups — with its prefall collection. “What I want to create is accessories and garments that will never lose their allure,” says Ferragamo’s design director Massimiliano Giornetti, “that go beyond trends and can be used for years and years.” True to form, these low-riding lady heels don’t look a day over 20-something when worn with prefall’s chocolate pleated croc miniskirt or disco printed jumpsuit. “What really can be defined as ‘classic’ will never lose an intrinsic message of modernity,” Giornetti says. So spare them the arrivederci‘s, please.
Salvatore Ferragamo green crocodile kitten heels, $4,500. At select Salvatore Ferragamo boutiques; (800) 628-8916.

    Ceviche By City Kitchen

     By City Kitchen

    Ceviche By Simply Recipes

    Ingredients

    • 2 lbs of firm, fresh red snapper fillets (or other firm-fleshed fish), cut into 1/2 inch pieces, completely deboned
    • 1/2 cup of fresh squeezed lime juice
    • 1/2 cup of fresh squeezed lemon juice
    • 1/2 red onion, finely diced
    • 1 cup of chopped fresh seeded tomatoes
    • 1 serrano chili, seeded and finely diced
    • 2 teaspoons of salt
    • Dash of ground oregano
    • Dash of Tabasco or a light pinch of cayenne pepper
    • Cilantro
    • Avocado
    • Tortillas or tortilla chips

    Method

In a non-reactive casserole dish, either Pyrex or ceramic, place the fish, onion, tomatoes, chili, salt, Tabasco, and oregano. Cover with lime and lemon juice. Let sit covered in the refrigerator for an hour, then stir, making sure more of the fish gets exposed to the acidic lime and lemon juices. Let sit for several hours, giving time for the flavors to blend.
