The Eyebrow

      Just read the book

 "The Eyebrow "

  By Robyn Cosio

How often do you think about your eyebrows?

I mean really? lol

Plucked, penciled, dyed, arched, or pierced -- welcome to the beautiful world of eyebrows. Here, I renowned makeup artist and eyebrow specialist Robyn Cosio follows the evolution of eyebrow fashion throughout history and provides detailed information on how to create the perfect shape for every face. The first definitive book on this fascinating yet often overlooked facial feature, The Eyebrow shows readers how they can completely transform their look just by changing their brows. Dozens of photographs of film and music stars from the 1920s to the present are also included, from Clara Bow's long, thin, dropped-down brow, to the diva-arched brow of the 1950s, to the natural-looking brow of the 1980s. In an extensive how-to section, Cosio shows how to create perfect brows, whether the eyebrows are thick and bushy or thin and sparse. Cosio also examines the folly of eyebrow trends, showing how different eyebrow shapes flatter different faces.

Robyn Cosio

The pictures alone in this book really put together how eyebrows create such a big difference in our appearance. Even showing pictures of some career eye brow transformations of movie stars from yesteryear. One advice she gives Make-up Artist is "Pretend it is your own face" -Meaning taking care to insure you treat the brow application as your own. Simple yet makes sense. There is even a segment on how to do your own brows.

Robyn Cosio is a world-renowned makeup artist and eyebrow specialist serving clients on both coasts. Based in LA at Sally Hershberger Los Angeles, Robyn is in such high demand in NYC that she is now taking appointments one week each month at Sharon Dorram Color at Sally Hershberger.
Her work has been featured in Vogue, InStyle, Harper's Bazaar, W, Elle, Marie Claire, Mademoiselle and Allure and in television commercials for Gallo Winery, Maybelline and Levi's. She is highly sought after as a recognized authority on eyebrows and makeup and has made appearances on The Today Show, Good Morning America, CNN, Fox and MTV. In addition, she has designed makeup for Donna Karan, Calvin Klein and Bill Blass and authored the book, The Eyebrow.
Robyn's mastery of both the brow and makeup application is unparalleled and has given her access to some of the most recognizable faces in Hollywood and New York: Nicole Kidman, Kate Bosworth, Marisa Tomei, Christina Applegate, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gina Gershon, Vanessa Redgrave, Bryce Dallas Howard, Cat Deeley, Lesley Stahl, Laura San Giacomo and Elizabeth Perkins.
Robyn does not create a "signature brow." Instead, she provides sophisticated analysis of each client's face, creating a tailor-made brow - your signature brow. Her clients are pleased to discover that the better the brow, the less makeup is needed. Robyn has the foresight to recognize that trends are irrelevant and a great face can only be realized by following the simplest principles of glamour:

"It's not glitter eye shadow, black eyeliner, and a foundation applied with a trowel that make a woman beautiful. It is-and make this your beauty mantra-a gorgeous mouth, clear, beautiful skin, great hair, and stunning eyebrows."

Martha Stewart Autumn Centerpieces

I know it's not Halloween yet and here I'm posting an Autumn Centerpiece yet this caught my eye. Love the use of colors and textures on this little number.

There's even a "How To"

                                                                    Cornucopia Basket
A basic cornucopia basket gets a glamorous makeover, thanks to sparkly paint and fabric. Fruits and vegetables in rich shades of ruby and amethyst spill out like jewels.

Tools and Materials  via Martha Stewart everything Thanksgiving

  • Cornucopia basket, deandeluca.com
  • Metallic spray paint
  • Tape measure
  • Fabric, such as silvered linen, nyelegant.com
  • Straight pins
  • Sewing machine
  • Needle and thread

Shimmery Lined Cornucopia How-To

1. Coat cornucopia lightly with spray paint; let dry.
2. Cut out a fabric rectangle on the bias: The width should be 3 inches longer than the length of the cornucopia at its longest point, not including the upturned end; the length should be 1 inch longer than the circumference of the cornucopia's opening.
3. Fold fabric, right side up, so short sides meet; pin together along that edge.
4. Stitch where pinned, with 1/2-inch seam allowance. With doubled thread and running stitches, sew along 1 end; pull thread to cinch fabric closed, and stitch to secure.
5. Turn liner right side out, and place liner in cornucopia; secure cinched end inside tip of basket with a few back stitches.
6. Fold excess fabric over the rim. Turn edges under 1/2 inch, and pin. With doubled thread and slip stitches, sew hem, pulling thread through basket every couple of stitches to secure.

Re-posting a Blog -Going dowm memory lane

A blogger Buddie spoke of re-posting her blogs from when she first began blogging. I did just that by hitting the ol' archives. Just to see how my blogging world started. It was actually September 29, 2010. Reading my early blogs brought back memories;some fun and some not so fun. It's interesting how I could go back in time and see what I was thinking, doing -who "I" was at the time and who I was with. It mentions my ex,Tito. We broke up September 9,2011. It's been over a year and I am OK with it-who wants to date when you have blogging, job searching and  a 13 year old daughter to keep you company.

There's just too much going on to even think about getting into another relationship -There's....

Plus,I'm too invested in Rob Pattinson & Kristen Stewarts relationship to find one myself!

Here is my very first post:
Note: I didn't even download a picture! Times have change!

How I started going to yard sales :September 29,2010
It began several years ago when I took my boyfriend Tito to work one morning. It was bright and early as we drove to the golf course. We are definitely not"morning people" or this super power couple energized by Starbucks .Neither of us said much as silence shouted in the the cold November air. Thoughts in my head whispered " Who gets up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday"!? Once Tito exited the truck , I slid my junk in the trunk to the drivers side and headed home. Little did I know, one sign would change my Saturday mornings for years to come. It wasn't a spiritual awakening with angels singing & harps playing in the background. Yet, a synergy of sorts. There displayed so proudly stood a YARD Sale sign. I followed the arrow leading me "right" to the house. I was amazed by the gently worn designer labels and "still" in the  package items .I wondered why would this perfectly sane woman was selling unopened, new & up to date items. Being an ex Home Depot employee, there wasn't much I haven't seen or heard, so I asked. She explained how she changed her mind during a redecorating extravaganza, therefore displayed before my eager eyes was the extra. Luckily I had grabbed my wallet before leaving  the house a made my first purchase. The rest, as they say is history. It's going on four years now. I wanted to start blogging about my adventures, show pictures & give tips on finding the "wow" factor. You will be amazed how a simple wow at a yard sale can set the pace for your everyday life. Aren't we all just wanting to be wowed in all factors of our lives?

Update: Tito's Mother and I still yard sale every Saturday morning. It's our girl time. We have noticed a trend in the past few years, more families are yard sailing to make ends meet .

Here's to more blogging and living large with my Julia Rose

Well, not really large, I am working on the living large part! hee hee

Natural Stone Beads Bracelet made from Carnelian.

My favorite item @ Rachel Rose Jewelry Boutique

Do you know how in marketing things are pictured and/or displayed in such a way, that when you actually see it in person-your disappointed? When I saw and read the following,I knew this item was for me!

The Savanna stretch bracelet is made up of natural stone beads made from carnelian. The bracelet is then accented with a dangling antique brass coin charm set upon natural wooden beads. It easily stands on its own, but also looks very chic when layered with other bracelets. You'll like it just as much with jeans as you will with your fanciest dress on a Saturday night.
Item # MIT4009

I have to say,I was not disappointed. You can dress it up or down. It actually goes with everything!

See my pictures below....

It retails for $28.00 -If you in box me rachel.lunagirl@hotmail.com I will send you a link for a discount price for being a Blogger Buddie.Put Savannah bracelet on memo.

Creating a Mobile Office

Finding it harder and harder to stay disciplined in a home office environment -I have moved in at the local library. Well not in a squatter sort of way-more of a utilizing the facilities sort of way.

Everything, minus the lap top- was purchased @ local yard sales.
                              ALL FOR UNDER $5.00!!!

From left to right, a small sewing box for the button rings I am currently making. The middle tote acts as a purse/office supply storage & the avocado green vintage bag holds my lap top.

I use a shawl to cover the contents of my purse (to hide how messy things can get)-I think I am a closet/purse pack rat. The first step is admitting it, right?
Do you see the little "people" on my bag. It's actually a hair clip -thought it would bring a little character to the bag.
There you have it, a mobile office for those days you need to get away from the home office.

Achievable Fashion

Most people channel surf. I happen to blog surf. This is how I happened upon Achievable Fashion. First off ,I love the mascot girl .She is just too cute! How many of us can say we have a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear?Sounds so familiar. It's similar to when one of the kids opens the fridge and yells" Mom,there's nothing to eat!"Am I right? -Well Achievable Fashion caught my eye and interest.

Karyn, the owner of Achievable Fashion confesses she is not a fashionista. Secondly, confesses she is not a writer. She's was just too busy of a mom who got sick of having  a closet full of clothes and nothing to wear. Her fashion journey began when she set out to rid herself of that dreadful closet full of clothes and nothing to wear – well then out came Achievable Fashion  book.

Which is great for us !
If you  (click here) - check out a sample of the book. I love when authors give a sneak peak of their work.To me, that tells you it has to be good! There's  so many great ideas! I am sure we all need to "vamp" our wardrobes. Let me know what you think of the site!

Julia Doodling

I feel ashamed to admit, I never really knew my Julia (13) could draw. Is that horrible? I found her drawing on a little note card.Which she was actually going to throw away!

She explained she was only doodling?
I told her  per Wikipedia :

Doodle - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DoodleShare
doodle is an unfocused drawing made while a person's attention is otherwise occupied. Doodles are simple drawings that can have concrete representational meaning or may just be abstract shapes.

She just rolled her eyes and said Oh Momma!

Immediately I went into Momma Mode & showed

her what I could do over at Be Funky

                          Her reaction: Oh Cool!

Yeah I am cool again! Yeah Me!
